CORE VALUES
These six core values reflect our heart and hope at Good Springs as we seek to honor Christ in all we do.
We hope in the gospel.
We hope in the gospel — the good news that God saves sinners through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ (1 Corinthians 15:3–4; Romans 1:16). Our confidence for forgiveness, our assurance in suffering, and our expectation for eternity do not rest on our performance, but on Christ’s finished work (Romans 5:1–2; 8:1). The gospel is not merely the doorway into the Christian life; it is the foundation and fuel of it. As a church, we therefore preach Christ crucified (1 Corinthians 2:2), calling one another again and again to rest in him, rejoice in him, and order our lives around the hope that will not put us to shame (Romans 5:5).
We prioritize Christ-centered worship.
We gather each Lord’s Day to behold and respond to the glory of God revealed in Jesus Christ (2 Corinthians 4:5–6). Our worship is shaped not by personal preference or cultural trend, but by the Word of God (Colossians 3:16; 2 Timothy 4:2). Through the public reading of Scripture, faithful preaching, prayer, singing, and the ordinances, Christ builds His church and magnifies His name (Acts 2:42; 1 Timothy 4:13). We aim for worship that is reverent and joyful, doctrinally rich and congregationally engaged, so that in all things Christ might have the preeminence (Colossians 1:18).
We pursue spiritual formation.
God saves us not only from sin’s penalty, but also from its power, conforming us to the image of His Son (Romans 8:29; 2 Corinthians 3:18). We therefore pursue spiritual formation through the ordinary means of grace — Scripture, prayer, fellowship, and accountability within the local church (Acts 2:42; Hebrews 10:24–25). Growth in holiness is neither instantaneous nor self-generated; it is the Spirit’s work through the Word in the context of a committed church family (Philippians 2:12–13). We exhort one another to put sin to death and to put on Christ, trusting that He who began a good work will bring it to completion (Colossians 3:5–14; Philippians 1:6).
We love one another.
Jesus said that the world would know we are His disciples by our love for one another (John 13:34–35). This love is not sentimental, but sacrificial and truthful — bearing burdens, forgiving sins, and speaking the truth in love (Galatians 6:2; Ephesians 4:15, 32). As members of one body, we belong to one another (Romans 12:5), and so we commit ourselves to meaningful church membership, mutual care, and faithful discipline when necessary (Matthew 18:15–17). In loving one another, we display the reconciling power of the gospel and adorn the doctrine of God our Savior (Titus 2:10).
We engage in evangelism and missions.
The risen Christ has commanded His church to make disciples of all nations (Matthew 28:18–20). Compelled by his love (2 Corinthians 5:14–15), we proclaim the gospel clearly and courageously, trusting God to grant repentance and faith (2 Timothy 2:24–25). Evangelism is not a program reserved for a few, but a calling entrusted to every believer (Acts 1:8; 1 Peter 3:15). From our neighborhoods to the nations, we labor and pray for the spread of the gospel, longing to see Christ receive the worship He deserves from every tribe and tongue (Revelation 7:9–10).
We serve our community.
Having received mercy, we seek to reflect God’s character through lives of humble service (Micah 6:8; Ephesians 2:10). We do good to all, especially to those of the household of faith, bearing witness to the kindness and justice of our Lord (Galatians 6:10; Matthew 5:16). Our service does not replace the proclamation of the gospel, but commends it, as we care for the needy, pursue righteousness, and seek the welfare of our community (Jeremiah 29:7; James 2:14–17). In this way, we pray that our good works would lead others to glorify our Father in heaven (Matthew 5:16).
